I won’t rehash a lot of what I covered in my old review, so I strongly encourage you to check it out here. You know, stuff like maximizing prints you can fit on the paper in exactly the size you want? Sounds simple right? Well, if you’ve tried doing this in Lightroom or just about anything else, you know that you can pull your hair out trying to get exactly what you want while still making the best use of the paper.

When I reviewed QImage back in 2010, I quickly fell in love with how simple it was to do complex print layouts. I have begun doing the layouts in the Lightroom print module and then printing to files to print with Qimage.This user-interface might seem intimidating, but it’s really a breeze to use But I do sometimes find this feature in Qimage a bit cumbersome. I also like the ability to do custom layouts of multiple prints on a page. Maybe with custom made profiles this would not be necessary, but it saves me the cost of purchasing equipment to do my on paper profiling. With Qimage filters, I can make small change. When I get profiles from Epson or Red River Paper they never seem to be exactly right. I particularly like that you are able to create print filters in order to tweak paper/printer profiles. I think that Qimage is very good for printing and I appreciate many of its features.

Also it often seems to put an excessive load on the CPU Robust software should not behave that way. I was eventually able to find the error in the file and correct it with a text editor. When trying to load it, instead an error message the Qimage just crashed. In the past, I did have a corrupted filter file. In fact when I have done something like trying to save to an existing file, it doesn't always give me a warning, but instead sometimes just locks up. I'm not convinced since Qimage has not been robust since I first installed it years ago. Has anyone had problems with Qimage Ultimate crashing or locking up? Mike Chaney suggest that something may be corrupted and that I need to delete data and reinstall Qimage. Before I complain, I want to say the overall I find Qimage a great program for printing photographs after having used it for over a decade.
